“There is a Balm in Gilead” with audio background.
With full respect given to Clara Brooks wrote and arranged this song in 1911.
Jesus is THE balm of Gilead.
Have you ever had a heart so broken you knew you’d never be the same? The one who created that heart has the power to mend it and make you new. He can give you the oil of joy for mourning. That is the balm of Gilead – Jesus Christ.
A balm is something that soothes a wound. He does this.
Refrain:
There is a balm in Gilead
To make the wounded whole;
There is a balm in Gilead
To heal the sin sick soul.
Some times I feel discouraged,
And think my work’s in vain,
But then the Holy Spirit
Revives my soul again.
Refrain
If you can’t preach like Peter,
If you can’t pray like Paul,
Just tell the love of Jesus,
And say He died for all.
Refrain
“Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?&rdquo: (Jeremiah 8:22)
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” (I Peter 2:24)
